Respectfully returned, with report. That the case of Jno Lucas reported within is substantially as stated. There is no doubt that great injustice was done him by the civil courts. He afterwards appealed to the Military Comr. for this Dist, who issued an order suspending the sale of his property, & then investigated the case and forwarded it to Genl Stoneman, who returned it Aug 30th 1868, with the Endorsement, that it was not a case for Military interposition, & ordered the Mil Comr. to revoke all orders issued by him in the case -
