and the desks for the school room

And with said sum had erected in the City of Richmond, a large building well adapted to the purposes of an Orphan House: which building has been occupied with the consent of said Committee by the colored, orphans, as a part of Howard Grove Hospital, under the care of the Bureau, since the first of 5th month last.-: And whereas: the sole purpose of said Society is to aid and assist the colored people of the City of Richmond to establish and maintain an Orphan House of their own: and whereas, it is our intention soon as we can get a charter, to have a suitable number of colored men named as Directors and Trustees - of the same along with our Committee. And whereas, for the more efficient conducting of said Orphan House, we, the Committee have from time to time rendered considerable aid in furnishing clothing, paying assistants &c.
