Respectfully returned to Mr. J. H. Cox, who will state what labor he wishes these families to perform, and the wages he will give. The Government cannot furnish transportation, except to persons in destitute circumstances.

Farming, is the labor I wish performed. I will furnish houses, barns, & tools to work with, & will given them the customary share of the grain raised.

This winter I can furnish work a part of the time, if they do a hand's work, I will pay them a hand's wages. There is a great scarcity of laborers in this section, & they need not be idle a day if they will work. 

I want two families, the men a little up in years, that will be quiet & steady, & that have families of boys & girls able to do light work.
