Genl O Brown

My Dear Sir
The colored people of this town and vicinity have been strugling for some time to build a school house here and have been promised some assistance from your department as they inform me. They have a lot on which to build and have subscribed some money but how much I am unable to say. I spoke to Capt Weber about it a short time ago when he was here and he informed me that he thought some assistance could be obtained. I should be much obliged for any definite information in the subject.

You have confered a favor on us by removing your Agent from this County, and I know it will have an admirable effect equal to 300 votes for us. I trust he may have nothing more to do with the affairs of this County I have it from out side rumor that he still has a supervission over the County I hope and trust he may have nothing to do with us as he is a bad man.
