   I have the honor to state, that having received a request from AA Surg E.W.K. Andrews, U.S.A. on duty at Alexandria, Va. that his contract with the Bureau be annulled on the 16th inst, and being already convinced that the time had come, or was near at hand when it would be no longer necessary, to retain a medical Officer at that station, I, at once, took measures to have my views confirmed, or disaffirmed, by reliable authority at that place. I addressed a communication to Col Lee Sub Asst Comr, and to Dr. Andrews, asking their opinion on the subject, and have received from both of these the assurance that a Bureau Medical Office, and Dispensary, are no longer needed there.
   I have, therefore, annulled Dr Andrews contract as requested, giving notice that the Dispensary will be closed on the 16th inst., and that no Medical Officer will be assigned to duty there, have directed Dr Andrews to place the rooms
