Please a the Court House of the County of Hanover before the worshipful Justices of the County Court of said County on the 4th of December 1868
Be it remembered that heretofore towith:
At a court of Quarterly Session Continued and held for the said County at the Court House on the 30th of November 1868.

Hanover County : to wit
In the County Court of said County We the Grand Jurors in and for the body of the County of Hanover duly Summoned empannelled and sworn and now attending a quarterly term of the said court on our oaths present that Robert F. Rice on the 22nd day of November 1868 in the said County with a certain gun then and there loaded with gun powder and leaden shot feloniously, willfully, maliciously and of his malace aforethought, did shoot one Jacob Powell a colored person with the intent him, the said Jacob Powell then and there to maim disfigure disable and kill. Contrary to the form of the statute in such cases made and provided and against the peace and dignity of the Commonwealth of Virginia
