News Ferry April 22nd/68.

Dear Brother William, I write to you to know if there is any law in Richmond for whipping servants as Mrs Harvey this morning had Sallie's head under her foot beating her I also want you to send me advice and money to tell me what to do. I am sorry to write so but I am obliged to do it. I do not know whether Sallie will come home or not, but I am not going to have her persecuted and if there is any law please send me word and I will go to the Court House. It was not the lady that hired me but one that is staying here. Write soon and let me know what is best to do
Harriet Evans
