until the magistrate could investigate the case. In compliance with Chapter 815, Code of Virginia 1860, they all refused, one of the magistrates Geo. C. Holt. Esq. ordered a constable to put her in in jail as there was no other safe place to put which was done. 
The examination was held as soon as convenient in compliance with the law. Stimpson Farmer offering to taking care of her the magistrates agreeing to get the county to make an appropriation to pay the said Stimpson to take [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] care of Laura. Under the agreement Laura was sent home with Stimpson.
Those in charge of Laura say that for ten days after she became insane she drank but one glass of water, and eat but one small biscuit. As soon as she commenced to eat she got better and she appears as well now as ever. She is stoping at Mr. Martin's, is about sixteen (16) years of age, has a good supply
