At a meeting held by the Freedmen at the Freedman's School House on the evening of May 25th 1868 Edward Fox being chairman and W. W. Johnston Secretary and some 300 Freedmen being present the following resolutions were unanimously passed

Whereas we have heard with grief that Genl Schofield has been petitioned by prominent rebels of Lexington to relieve Bvt Brig Genl Douglas Frazar Assistant Sub Assistant Bureau R F & A Lands from duty at this place.

Resolved That we have every faith in the integrity and honestly of Genl Frazar that he is the first officer who has been sent us who has ever strictly performed his duty without fear or favor. We further declare that his teachings to us have never been incendiary that on the contrary he has always advised us to be respectful industrious law abiding citizens. he has always given us the best advice and has instructed us upon all subjects upon which we have desired information. His removal for conscienciously [[conscientiously]] performing his duty would be to him a wrong and injustice
