In reply to enclosed communications and endorsements, respecting the staying of an execution in the case of the Commonwealth vs William McDaniel, Jr, tried at the May term of the County Court of King George,  I have the honor to report that, on the first Thursday of May last, (Court day) Mr McDaniel thinking that the Court had not given him justice, appealed to Lt G.G. Greenough, Military Commr., in my presence, and he wished me to forward him the papers in the case; which I did, having no interest in the case other than to accommodate the parties.  I made application to William I. Brown, Esq. for a copy of the records, which he kindly gave me, I subsequently told him, that I had no right to suspend proceedings in any case, that I merely made the request, and he remarked that he was sorry
