Commissioner Sir On Saturday while a white man by the name of Tucker, from Alexandria, was speaking from the court House stoop, some person unknown, threw a stone evidently at Tucker, striking a colored woman and injuring her pretty seriously. Capt Richards. comdg the troops, and myself, were upon the alert to find out the perpetrator of the act but were unsuccessful Things passed off quietly until about 4 oclock in the afternoon, when a colored man made some very imprudent remarks to some passing soldiers, words led to blows and finally a general melee
