tion. All that is needed is funds to
carry forward the object. The people
are extremely poor especially those
over whom the Bureau operates.
The white have in two instances ten-
dered them and in instructing the Col-
ored but funds are needed to carry
forward the object. The Courts, as
organized do not afford that protections
to freedmen which the Civil rights
bill guarantees to them, many instan-
ces of injustices have been reported, and
proper steps have been taken to rid
the bench and county of inefficient
Officers. The people are at work and
appear to be contented.

Hanover County! the A.S.A. Com'r of
this County is active and attends to
his duties promptly. I have heard of
but few complaints of injustice from this
county, and those were brought more in
ignorance of the laws, than injustice
