I fear, that at our next Election, if we have one soon, tampering with the Colored Voters will be practised, and so far, that no free expression of choice by the ballot can be had by this Class of people. The public Press of the State and of this City especially are strongly advocating a theory, which if acted upon will cause every Colored voter, who uses the Elective franchise, as he desires, to be discharged from their places at which they are now at work. Already a great scare has arisen among them, and the matter is freely canvassed, and I fear the result will be that a great many who are easily intimidated will remain at home and not vote.
