I have the honor to state that the Freedmen of Fairfield Dist in this County have been at work upon a school house since last May and need funds to complete it.

Since your letter of Aug 21st reached me I have seen the other trustees & from their statements  I am satisfied that they actually need $100.00.  I named $50.00 in my previous letter upon the assertions of James Robinson (Chairman of Trustees) that it could be made to answer. $100.00 will finish the building & through Miss Howland they expect to have a teacher sent to them at once. 

The people are earnest & zealous though poor and will contribute to the
