Case No. 8. A Colored woman named Virginia White went to the well of a Mr. W. H Brander for the purpose of obtaining water permission for so doing having been given by Brander. While there another woman (colored) came up and the two got into a dispute about a piece of Calico. Brander came up and ordered the woman Virginia White off of his premises. she started but did not run fast enough for him, so he drew a pistol and fired at the woman as she was running through his gate, the shot taking effect in the gate post.

Virginia obtained a warrant for Branders arrest and he was tried before a Mr. Moody and dismissed as frivilous. One now
