Robt. F. Rice (white) charged with Felony, in the shooting of two colored men in the lower end of the County, on the 23rd. inst. Rice gave himself up to Dr. J.G. Lumpkins, J.P., and confessed to having shot the parties.  He stated, that the one who was most severely injured, he shot on purpose; the other was accidental.  The one least injured, appeared and made the same statement.  The Justice committed him in default of Bail in the sum of $500.00.

The origin of the difficulty was not fully understood.  The negro was so severely injured, that it was considered doubtful at one time, whether, he would survive.  I am not
