Lieut P. R. Hambrick,
S.A.C. 3rd Sub Dist, Va

Lieutenant,

With reference to the case of Robert Doswell, charged with the murder of John Lewis, col'd on the 10th day of August last, in the upper end of this County, a report of which was made at the time of the occurrence, I have the honor to state for your information that Doswell was tried for the Offence at the last term of the County Court which closed its session on the 5th inst.

The facts, as elicited at the trial, so far as they related to the killing of Lewis, were substantially the same as set forth in my first report, and no attempt was made to refute them.

The Defence, however, entered the plea of insanity, and in proof of the same introduced five witnesses who testified as follows;-

Geo W Doswell and wife, parents
