I, Solomon Dixon, (Colored) being duly sworn do depose and say [?] was to the best of my knowledge been in the County of Westmoreland Virginia, a freeman and am sworn always free & am a farmer sworn always. That I never did any act in and of the late Rebellion against the United States. That on or about 1st of April 1864 a Regiment or part of Federal troop (Union) Cavalry and the party (Colored) was landed at Coln' point in said County, They seized me and passed through my farm & returned at night fall and embarked the next day. That there troops took and destroyed and Carried off the following property of mine vz' 10 Geese worth 50c 5.00 6 Ducks 25c worth 1.50 3 Turkeys worth 75c 2.25 8 Goosier fowls worth 25c 2.00 4 Lambs worth 2.00 8.00 3 Sheep worth 4 12.00 5 Pieces Bacon worth 50ea estimated, 10.00 That on June 13, 1864 a Regiment of Union troops under Col., Draper passed through my said farm & embarked in steamer and took destroyed and Carried off the following of this property vz 4 Sheep worth 4 16.00 1 Black mare worth 100 100.00 1 Buggy worth 60 60.00 2 plows worth 4 8.00 1 pitch fork worth 50c 50 2 trace chains worth 100 2.00 1 young ox worth 20 20.00 1 cow & calf worth 25 25.00 12 Bushel Corn worth 1$ per Bush 12.00 25 Ch.
