Farmville, Va., May 5th 1868.

General
I have the honor to report that the School building at Farmville is sufficiently capacious to accommodate more pupils than attend and that a large number of boys are found daily on the streets who are not old enough to labor but will not attend school, there growing up on evil ways of ignorance, idleness and disorder

I respectfully ask if an order can be issued which will compel these boys to go to school or keep from the public streets

I am, General
Very respectfully
