Register of Marriages
The register of marriages is very imperfect. Sheets on file show only (82) eighty two males, (82) eighty two females, (181)one hundred and eighty one children and (34) thirty-four children recognized.

Poor
The county is bankrupt, and although the authorities express themselves willing to support such as are indigent at the Poor house, it is with difficulty those already there can be fed, and as the freedmen will never go to the Poor house voluntarily, and no outdoor relief is granted, they virtually support their own poor.

I met a Mr Varner at Maysville, the Court House, and consulted with him as to chance of establishing a school there, which I understand he will shortly do, and next Fall I hope aid may be had for schools in other places.

Political
Political discussions took an angry turn under the incendiary [[languages?]] of both white and colored speakers, and the exhibition
