I have the honor to forward, thro' Hd. Qrs. 6th Sub. Dist., the following report in compliance with Circular No. 16 C.S. Hd Qrs. Asst. Com'r,
I received a leave of absence to take effect Aug. 8. 1868 I could not leave any station until Aug. 13. 68 on account of steamboat not leaving. I returned to my station Sept. 14. 1868. My leave of absence was for twenty days, I remained in the North about four days over my "leave" from necessity, an accident happened to the train of cars near Williamsport Penn @ which compelled me to remain in Washington one day and then the train from Aquia Creek was behind 1/2 hour and I did not meet the Tappahannock steamer, therefore I was
