Com'r District of Va Richmond General I have the honor to report that on the 11th of Sept Stephen Moseley (c) came to this office and informed me that Reuben Johnson (c) had been shot at and severely wounded by B. A. Roberts, a special constable, who at the time had Reuben Johnson in charge for the purpose of lodging him in jail at Charlotte C. H. I immediately notified Mr. Leakey, A.S.A. Com. of the complaint, and directed him to proceed to the place where the wounded man lay, and make full investigation into all the facts, reporting same to me which report I forward herewith for your inspection I am General Very respectfully Your obt servt Thos.
