HEADQUARTERS, 3d Division 11th Sub-District Virginia.
Boydton, Va. Dec 12th 1868.

Sir:
I have the honor to state that the colored people at South Hill Va. have bought a good building site, and got the deed for the same, have also built a good frame School House 22 x 24 feet, and 10 foot Posts, it is enclosed with dressed siding, and covered with a shingle roof. I would also state that there is a good school in operation there, which has been entirely supported by Freedmen for the past four months. The building is not ceiled yet, and the seats are not made. The colored people have already paid out $200. Cash, and worked out $150 or thereabout besides, as subscriptions. I would respectfully ask that they be allowed an appropriation of Sixty Dollars ($60.00) which amount will about ceil the room, and put in the seats.

Very Respectfully
Your Obdt Servant
