Mr Wartman was the presiding Justice in all these trials, and from the disposition he showed to satisfy me there was no prejudice on the part of the Court on account of Color I was induced to ask him for a statement of all the facts in Minor Johnsons case believing from what I heard of the man they would given freely, fully and impartially with this explanation before you I submit whether my action in this case was absurd as the endorsement would make it appear, or have you believed it was, From my success here considering the state of feeling which existed here when I took charge, I feel confident I have not done very many absurd acts
Very Respectfully
