Dear Sir,
Your communication of Nov. 16th to General Howard in reference to a school house at Lexington has been referred to this office. Under date of Harper's Ferry Nov. 2nd Mr. N.C. Brackett, "Supt. Schools for Freedmen, Shenandoah Valley" applies for an appropriation of $125 for repairing school rooms at Lexington, in a house already purchases by the colored people.

On the receipt of that paper Nov. 13th the repairs were promptly ordered to be made. If the provision, thus made, for schools is not satisfactory, you are requested to communicate with their Hd. Qrs.
