inspecting but a small part of his evidence & among that refused the most important. Leading questions were asked altogether by the examining magistrate and one of the witnesses said that they tried to make him testify to that which he knew everything about.
Not withstanding all this Dr Lewis was committed for trial & bail refused and he is now subjected to severity that would [[strikethrough]] only [[/strikethrough]] hereby be imposed upon convicts for the darkest crimes. At the same time he is suffering from sickness. 

I regard this case as one levelly calling for military interpersition and that justice demands it. and most respectfully do I say that some action be taken to relieve the suffering of this poor fellow and that without delay as every hour to him in his present condition is an age.
