The report in the within mentioned case, made by Mr. Sidney B Smith, Agent, has been formally investigated by me, and the facts are as stated. A copy of the enclosed letter to Mr [[?]] overseer of the [[?]] for that district, has been sent to him.
Upon conversation with the proper civil authorities, it is deemed advisable not to take any further action in the matter, under the next sitting of the Grand Jury, in April, when Davis will be taken before that body and an effort made to have Creel indicted.
Upon such action being taken a full report will be made of the result.
