I have the honor to return to you a Communication from the Asst. Com dated Feb 26th, 68 with endorsement there on the slip of paper  from the Lynchburg news is a base fabrication no Such Order has ever been issued by me when ever I issue an order you will be furnished with a Copy of the Same

I would state that during the month of February I suggested to the Mayor and Some of the Councils of Danville the idea of enforcing the ordinance of the Town which is this Section 21 Page 8 provides that the incorrigibly [[?]] both White and Black shall be made work or be fined and caused to be worked on the publick streets I have often been requested by respectable Citizens both Black and White to do Something to compell the above mentioned Class of persons to be punished or be required to work for their living no action has been taken in the matter as yet
