Powhatan County May 18 1868

May I [[strikethrough]] ak [[/strikethrough]] ask General Brown
To please take the trouble to apprise me if there is any relief for a case of this nature namely it seems that some of the citizens of Powhatan County are disposed and determined to be triatious towards me for my principles because I voted to ratacal ticket and says they intends to sell me out unless I change from the Republican party and act and influence the colored people to do the same. I went [[strikethrough]] sur [[/strikethrough]] security for a labourer for the sum of one hundred dollars and promise to pay it [[strikethrough]] in [[/strikethrough]] when my [[strikethrough]] to [[\strikethrough]] tobacco was sold and he sent down to Mr. Delane & Sumerville 2,00 lbs of tobacco and they only sent us one hundred and thirteen for the whole and now Dr Tucker of Powhatan has put all my property in hands of one Mr Mosbey to sell I am willing to pay every just debt I owe but they say they will not wait I have a [[strikethrough]] va [[/strikethrough]] very good crope of wheat on hand this year if they would wait I will be able to pay but they say they sell me out in July next will you please take further trouble and see if you can not do me some good
Yours dependently
