General,
I have the honor to call the attention of the Asst. Commissioners to the fact of my having reported an account of a difficulty occurring between  myself and a family named Penn, during the year 1866, in which report I stated of my having been presented by the Grand Jury of Patrick Co. on two indictments for said assault. The report was returned to me, with instructions to stand my trial before the Civil Courts, which was done last month (May) and in one case I was fined one dollar and costs, and in the other I was fined four dollars and costs. The fines and costs are of small amount I am aware, but still I dislike the idea of paying for an unjust presentment, as this whole affair grew out of an Official act; and as it  (over)
