on the 20th day of August 1865, I rented to Charles Johnson (formerly the servant of Col Porter) a field containing fifty acres - more or less; it is the field adjoining Col Porter's - running from the back to Col. Porters stone fence - The said Chas. is to make the fence running with the pines from the canal to Col P.'s stone fence - The fence is to be a lawful fence - The said Johnson is to have the land for Two Years (1866 & 1867) to tend in corn - in the fall of 1867 the land is to be sown in wheat - The said Charles Johnson is to tend all of land in the field in corn both years - Also seed it the last fall of his term in wheat - The said Johnson is to pay one third of the corn each year & one third of the wheat - after taking out his seed - The said Johnson is to have pasturage for horses cattle hogs free by fencing in a field running from the fence in the direction of my hog pen and thence to Samuel Douglass - containing about fifty acres - I am to furnish him with timber to build a house - at the locks  The said Johnson is to do the work hisself  The house is to be free of rent - pine wood is to be got wherever I direct - The said Johnson is to keep no disorderly house & no one about him but his own family & those he hires to keep tend the crops by not complying with the above this contract is forfeited
