Respectfully returned (thro Hd. Qrs. 10th Sub- Dist.) to Sidney B. Smith, A.S. A.C. - If it can be proven that Charles Johnson was at the time of the trespass, or taking up the estray, in possession of the land, by virtue of a lease, or other agreement, and that, in accordance with the law of the State, he gave notice of such estray to the Justice of his County, or Corporation, he is clearly entitled to the stray, and Mr. Smith will take proper steps to bring the case before the Military Commissioner.
