objection to his taking her away, but after he had proceeded some distance, Porter came after him and took said heifer from him. Whereupon Johnson brought a suit in the County Court to recover the same, which was tried yesterday and decided by the bench that neith Porter or Johnson owned the said heifer, but, in as much as she was in Porter's custody he should keep her whereby throwing the whole cost of the suit on Johnson. Should Porter say in the witness box that, he did not own the heifer, and could not prevent anyone from taking her away.

A colored man, one of Porters witness, admitted in less than 1/4 of an hour after the case was decided, [[strikethrough]] that [[/strikethrough]] in the presence of several persons, that he swore to a lie He is in Porters employ 

I believe that, the heifer rightfully belongs to Johnson and if there is any power vested in the authorities of this Bureau or in the military, she should be given to him after settling with Porter for wintering her last winter. I submit this statement /saying that if in the opinion of the Assistant Commissioner any thing can be done for Johnson's relief in this case that it be done.
