Smith Dear Sir In answer to your letter of the 11th instant I would state that the colored people in whose behalf I wrote to Col Lee have purchased a wood lot of half an acre to which they will get a deed as soon as they have an assurance that your Department will aid them in erecting a schoolhouse sufficiently large to accomodate their children.
