I have the honor to report the following case of gross injustice perpetrated by a Jury at the July term of the County Court in the case of the Commonwealth vs. Ro H Woddell
Woddell was arraigned and tried upon an Indictment found by the Grand Jury for wilfull and deliberately killing Henry Clay (col'd) on the 5th day of June 1868. I enclose herewith the entire testimony in the case and in order that no mistake should be made in it I read it over to J.F. Johnson Atty for Woddell and he informed me that he considered it a fair and correct statement. The Jury remained in the jury room only about ten minits and returned with a verdict of not guilty and Woddell was discharged.
