Sir
The State of Maryland Bounty originally due Tho. Festus Co H. 30th US.C.Tr. was $300. Of this amount $250 had been paid to Col S. M. Bowman on a Power of Attorney from said Festus.

When Festus was discharged he placed
his discharge in our hands for collection of the Bounty due him - We purchased of Festus the amount that might be recovered from said Bowman (who in the meantime had removed from the city) paying him therefore $100. Bowman reported $150 balance due Festus which amount he paid us in April 1866. In the meantime Festus ordered us to pay to James Rea of Winchester
Va. the Balance of the State Bounty or $50 which order is now on file in our office leaving nothing due said Festus

Signed Thos Timmons & Co
