for this school, but without success. Inasmuch as no local assistance can be had in Fredericksburg toward the erection of a school house, it was thought best, at the commencement of the present school year, to rent the church; accordingly Twenty Dollars ($20) per month has been paid for the use of it.

It is announced by the owners of the church that they shall decline to rent it another year.

I would, therefore, respectfully recommend that as soon as the support of the school can be secured, (the Baptist Home Miss. Soc. having withdrawn its support) and as soon as the means can be furnished by the Bureau, a lot be purchased and a suitable house to accommodate two teachers be erected.

The cost will be not much less than $2000.
