a strop or paddle.  Whether he died under this inhuman treatment at once, or sometime afterwards is not known.  He was found not far from the spot where he was whipped.

It is needless for me to say that the whole community feel indignant at this lawless and cruel murder.  I have made every inquiry as to the guilty parties but can get no clue by which to be able to fix the crime upon any one as yet.

It seems that a colored woman in the neighbourhood has made some remarks by which it is hoped that the murderers can be pointed out. Steps have been taken to obtain all the information possible.

It surely is impossible that such an outrage can be so shrouded in mystery as to leave the perpetrators of this murder unpunished.  Something surely will occur to point out and bring to punishment the fiends who could in cold blood plan and execute so foul a crime.

From all the information I can get the man who was so foully Dealt with was a quiet and orderly man.  This makes the whole matter the more mysterious.  I shall continue to use every means to ascertain
