who are the  guilty parties.  If you can at any time learn any thing that will tend to shew who were engaged in this most unholy outrage I will be much obliged to you if you will communicate with me at once. I will at all times and under all circumstances co-operate most heartily with you in bringing these outlaws to punishment.

I fear that persons living in the immediate vicinity of this murder will be afraid to give information voluntarily.  If so means must be taken to co-erce their appearance before the  officers of the law so as to aid in the arrest of the guilty. Once arrested and brought before the proper tribunals and I would have no Doubt upon the subject of their correction.

There is not a man in this portion of the county that does not feel indignant and that would not exert every lawful means in their power to bring to punishment the persons who could plan and execute so foul an act. They feel that their own safety is and protection Depends upon the arrest and punishment of outlaws and murders.

Indeed no man is safe in his person or property if such acts are to go unpunished
