In compliance with endorsment from Hd. Qrs. Asst. Com. Dist Va I have the honor to report that, The children Lewis and Frances were bound to Mr Irvin Hite by Lieut. Stephenson in 1866 none of their blood relations having been heard from.

As to the treatment of the children, I called on Thomas Wheeler and Alexander Washington, Geo Cotterell & Mason Baker col.) who were of the opinion that they were no better off now than Slaves and not so well treated.  That they had not been taught until after the mother
