(thro War Dept. Bureau &c) General, I have the honor to request that I may be furnished with information relative to the case of E. Smith (colored). The papers in this case were returned to you April 27th 1868, with the request that further efforts might be made to collect the money due Smith. Nothing has since been heard from them.
