(Writing to Lieut J A Yeckley). 

States that he is in great destitution, by reason of his political sentiments, that the people will not deal with or employ him, and as his disabilities have been removed by Congress asks that he be paid for services performed in the Bureau, which was withheld by reason of his being unable to take the test oath &c. &c.
