On the 17th October last I submitted in writing a claim for services as agent of the F. Bureau for this county for years 66 & 67 and enclosed with said claim my commission as agent and other papers and orders bearing upon the subject which was handed to Capt. Wm. P Austin the Bureau officer now in charge of this county to be forwarded.

Since that date I have not heard from the claim. As the Bureau expires on the 31st of this month under recent orders of Gen'l Howard lately published, I am anxious to have some action taken upon this case if possible, before the Bureau goes out of operation. I am in a necessitous condition, owing principally to the neglect of my private business while acting as agent of the Bureau as most of my time was necessarily devoted to its duties, and I am therefore the more solicitous of action being taken upon my claim for services as agent. Since, should it be allowed, it will greatly relieve me of embarrassment. I trust, therefore, General, you will pardon the liberty I take in writing to you upon the subject and respectfully request such information upon the subject as
