Sir,
Your humble petitioners Jefferson C. Phillips, G.W. Hope & Geo M. Peck, special commissioners appointed by the County Court of  Elizabeth City County for the purpose of receiving possession of certain lots in Hampton as cited in the enclosed order marked A do respectfully request that the following lots held in fee by Trustees for the benefit and to the use of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, of the town of Hampton and now on the book of the Bureau be restored to them.

1. A lot of land on Wine Street, bounded by the lots of F.A. Schemels, Jefferson Sinclair, the heirs of G.T. Massenburg & the street

2.  A lot of land on Wine Street, bounded by the lots of N. Gammel and the heirs of Mitchel, Hospital Lane & the street

3. A lot of land on Queen Street, bounded by the lots of Thos. Watts and the heirs of William S. Tompkins and the street

4. A lot of land in E.C. County, bounded by the lots of Joynes, Wilson the road & Joynes

For proof of title your petitioners refer to a copy of an order of court filed herewith, marked B and to a certificate of the clerk of the court marked C. Your petitioners did not deem it necessary to file the certificate of the clerk of the U.S. D. court that the above mentioned lots had not been proceeded against as no church property in the south has yet been libeled so far as your petitioners are advised. Your petitioners would further state that owing to the death of many of the trustees of said church and the absence of others from this state it has been
