Gen'l O.Brown:
Dear Sir:
Enclosed please find an affidavit in regard to a piece of property bought by a free col'd woman before the war and held in trust by one Dr. Madison. His son now refuses to restore it to its owner the old man being dead and the deed of conveyance is recorded at the C't House.

The clerk has read it once to the daughter of this Fanny Morris, mentioned, since which time he pretends that no such deed is there.

Maj Morse has been appealed to but the clerk has I beg leave to say decieved him in regard to the deed.
