States he has carefully investigated the case of the Commonwealth vs. Pear, tried by the County Court of Norfolk Co.; that the assault and attempted robbery alleged to have been committed by the accused, was a very aggravated one, and the evidence against him very strong; that Mr. W.H. Whitehurst, the assaulted party, a man of unimpeachable integrity is very positive in his identification of the accused, &c.

Gives, also, the testimony of Rev. Mr. Lewis.
