it is confidently expected that there will be a large increase of Schools during the coming Season.  The difficulty of finding and supporting teachers in the Country portions of the Sub Dist continues, to  be a serious obstacle to educational interests in such quarters.  If Bureau aid could be furnished in securing Teachers, and paying in whole or part their salaries, a great impetus would at once be given to Education in the Country as yet comparatively neglected.

Temperance
Although very great success has not been met with in organizing Temperance Societies throughout the whole extent of the Sub Dist, it is nevertheless gratifying to be able to state that the Freedpeople are as a class temperate, which is the result in part of the high price of all kinds of ardent Spirits placing it practically beyond their means to indulge in them to any great extent.
   
The following information pertaining to the several Divisions will show more fully the condition of the Freedmen and the Capacity and usefulness of the several officers in charge.
