6th The Schools in session being during the [[/strikethrough]] the [[strikethrough]] greater part of the Quarter only private pay Schools  viz. 5 in Norfolk, 4 in Portsmouth 1 at Deep Creek and 1 on Taylor Farm, have all prospered.  Schools are needed at the following points (in addition to those that will probably be reopened by the various charitable associations during the present month) viz, 2 in Norfolk 3 in Portsmouth 1 at Getty's Station (where a School house is now building) 1 at Providence Church, 1 at Great Bridge and 1 at Churchland and 1 at Tanners Creek Cross Roads.

The cause of Temperance continues prosperous.

[[left margin]] National Building and Loan Association and Freedmans Saving and Trust Company [[/left margin]]

The same is true of the National Building and Law Association and of the Norfolk Branch of the Freedmens Saving and Trust Company, in which 136 new accounts have been opened since last report and through which Bounty has been disbursed to colored Soldiers and Sailors and their heirs to the amount of $12,685.39/100.  About 40 five (5) cent accounts have been opened at this branch of the Bank.

No action has been taken by Mr Taylor during the Quarter so far as known for the recovery of his Farm by the ejection of the Freedmen thereon.  The only noticeable feature
