General,
I have the honor to report in compliance with telegram of this date from your Hd. Qrs. that the cleared portion of the Wise Farm (215 acres) is rented out to Freedmen in small lots from (2) two to (15) fifteen acres, under lease made Jany 30th 1868, and approved by the Asst. Com. Dist. of Va. Feby 28th 1868. Lease to expire Jany 1 1869. Said Lease is signed by (28) twenty eight Freedmen, who, with their families, constitute the occupants of the Farm. Total rental is ($287.50/100) Two Hundred & eighty-seven and 50/100 Dollars. Rent to be paid on maturing of crops. As the crops are about to be harvested it is proposed by Maj Croft the A.S.AC of 2 Div 1 S.D Va to commence the collection of Rent at once.
