Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
HEADQUARTERS 2nd SUB-DISTRICT, VIRGINIA.
Petersburg, April 2d 1868.

General
Captain Wilcox has just left my office and informs me that he does not intend being at his new stations before the middle of next week. This delay will keep Lieut Busbee from reporting to me for at least two weeks longer. Tis of the highest importance that an officer be in Sussex & Surrey immediately.

I therefore respectfully ask that the last named officer be directed to proceed at once to this city without waiting for the arrival of Capt Wilcox.

Very resptly Yours
J.R. Stone
Sub Asst Comm

Bvt Brig Gen O. Brown
Asst Comm.
